What Makes OS-01 EYE Unique?

The skin around your eyes has been shown to age faster and contain higher levels of senescent cells. (1) The secretion of inflammatory signals by senescent cells contributes to collagen degradation, resulting in a loss of skin firmness and resilience, which manifests as wrinkling and sagging. How the Study Was Conducted?

Following our rigorous lab testing, we partnered with a third-party research organization to test our formula on participants for 12 weeks and then measure its impact on factors like hydration, firmness, and transepidermal water loss at three intervals. Each person applied a dime-sized amount of OS-01 EYE twice daily, alongside a cleanser (PREP), moisturizer (OS-01 FACE), and sunscreen (Neutrogena Oil-free moisture SPF 35) to reduce variability in our results.

Instrumental Evaluation

Getting objective, reliable data is one of the most challenging aspects of testing any skin care product. To take the guesswork out of this process, we settled on four tools to objectively measure skin hydration, skin barrier function, firmness, elasticity, and visual analysis:
  • Corneometer: Corneometers use changes in skin capacitance and conductance to measure changes in skin hydration. To ensure reliable results, measurements were conducted in triplicate at each assessment. (5)
  • Evaporimeter: Trans-epidermal water loss is a key indicator of skin barrier function; a weakened skin barrier will lose more water to the environment. By assessing the vapor pressure gradient between the skin and surrounding air, evaporimeters help our researchers ascertain improvements in skin barrier function, with lower TEWL indicating enhanced hydration retention. These measurements were taken twice for accuracy. (5)
  • Cutometer: Skin is a complex system containing contrasting elastic and viscous fibers, elastin, and collagen. The cutometer uses gentle suction to mechanically deform the skin and provide insights into the biomechanical properties of each subject's periorbital skin. (5)
  • Clinical Photography: Clinical before and after photographs of each subject's face were taken using a VISIA-CR scanner. These photographs' accuracy, high quality, and standardized nature allow for a more comprehensive visual analysis of skin condition changes from various angles. (5)

Participants rated their satisfaction on a 5-point scale, complementing objective measurement data and providing a comprehensive understanding of the product's performance.

Our prior lab research had already established that OS-01 EYE promotes healthy collagen levels. Because collagen is the main structural protein supporting skin elasticity and firmness, our lab data predicted that OS-01 EYE would show these changes even before our clinical tests were performed. In lab studies observing the expression of key biomarkers associated with collagen production (COL1A1), OS-01 EYE was shown to improve a key collagen synthesis biomarker. (5)
